Pet peeves, smartphones, and expectations

Pet peeves, smartphones, and expectations

In this episode, I talk about my phone habits and some of the pet peeves that come with them. I talk about mindless scrolling, doomscrolling, and how easy it is to get lost in YouTube thumbnails or endlessly skip songs while driving, even when it doesn’t bring me any joy.

I talk about the struggle of balancing technology in daily life—how phones can distract during meals, conversations, or even while watching TV—and how I try to be more mindful about it.

I talk about the difference between experiencing things in real life versus online, like going to a Cirque du Soleil show, and how the in-person experience can never be replaced by videos or social media clips.

I touch on how creating content, like this podcast or my writing projects, helps me turn phone time into productive, creative thinking instead of just consuming. Finally, I reflect on personal growth, habits, and the ongoing challenge of managing technology while still enjoying life and staying present.
