The Wedding Gift - Chapter 12 - Paulina

All he left me was a golden necklace and a note:

A gift from Amsterdam. Beautiful wedding, honey. Well done! Ask Conor if he wants to go on a honeymoon with us. And don’t forget to cash that lottery ticket, assuming you didn’t lose it again.

With love, Harrison

Harrison knew. He knew everything.

The first time I met Conor, I immediately felt a connection. I don’t think I’ve ever met such an interesting person or clicked with anyone so quickly. Not even Harrison. I didn’t want any of it to happen. I promised myself I’d forget about Conor after we kissed, but when he flew back to Ireland, I just couldn’t stop thinking about him.

Yes, we did talk over the phone a few times and texted each other every now and then, but after a while I decided to end this nonsense. Two days ago, I wrote to Conor that we shouldn’t do that any longer. I was about to be married to a great guy. A great guy who ended up ruining my wedding. A great guy who stole one million euros from me. A great guy who’s just overwhelmed and lost and has no idea what he’s doing.
